I didn’t start writing for beauty. I started with grief—with letters to the one I lost. Now I write across canyons: of trauma, of language, of becoming. Join me in a space where self-care meets poetry, and storytelling becomes survival.
Jay, I admire your commitment to this process! I didn't start, because I knew this wasn't a season where I could give the process the attention it warrants. I've set it aside as a potential solo writing retreat activity after seeing how far you went with it. I love your trio! I see those words in you and your writing. How magical to get to witness this journey you've been on through #meetthewriter! ✨
Lori, thank you for this beautiful note—it means a lot. 🌿
I completely understand choosing to pause and honor your current season. That’s a kind of wisdom I deeply respect. And I love the idea of using these prompts for a solo writing retreat—what a nourishing way to meet yourself on the page.
Also, yes: I want to gently remind anyone watching from the edges that these reflections don’t need to be long or layered. A sentence. A fragment. Even just naming the feeling the word evokes—that’s enough. Presence matters more than production.
And my June creative challenge—#PrideOnThePage— in my sister publication https://wlplookout2create.substack.com/t/prideonthepage—will remain open way beyond June 1-30. Whether you move daily, weekly, or whenever space opens up for you, it’s yours to explore in your own time.
So grateful to be in this creative orbit with you. ✨
Jay, you've rightly tapped into some underlying pressure I (and lots of people) feel about how the reflections should look. "Presence matters more than production" may be my mantra through this process!
The word that makes the difference is "should." Who defines that? It already invites a deep reflection. Thank you for subscribing and I am looking forward to meet in this creative challenge. Remember. It is yours and yours only to define. Showing up is what matters.
