beautiful. glad you were spontaneous. it’s so fun to go up mountains. I was curious what you were doing with the laptop, but once I saw past what I would do, I realized how wonderful it would be to write in a place like that. I don’t even bring a water bottle anymore, and the phone might even stay in the car and I take the ham radio instead - the original social media. also, more spontaneous live posts are good
Andrew I had my iPad with me because leaving it in the car is not truly an option. Better safe than sorry. And yes, I have this Creative Challenge running where I post the new Prompt daily around 16:00 CEST (7 AM PST) and I always sent out a note to go with it. And with all the people I am tagging in that note, this is not working from the Substack app and a Pain in the a*s from the iphone and its tiny screen. So I took the iPad with me which enables me to do it very nicely and comfortable. And when I arrived at that place, no one around, having a signal, I just thought, why not do it here. That’s all to it. And while sitting and Liking / Commenting on the post in Sarah Fay’s challenge I thought, why don’t you go live and show all those liking my post with the photo where i am live. That how it came to be.
Loved seeing you! The rock formations look like perfect perches to sit upon. Having never traveled to Germany, this is is a treat. Such fun to be spontaneous. Mahalo dear Jay from the 🌊 to you. ⛰️☀️
Joanie, i got this impression that you watching truly like to “travel” in virtual reality for a moment to another country. I might keep it up, when I go anywhere else. Maybe be better prepared with some history. Today’s history would have been
The Hexentanzplatz is reputedly an Old Saxon cult site, at which pagan celebrations were held in honour of the so-called Hagedisen (forest and mountain goddesses), particularly on the night of 1 May. The place did not become known as the Hexentanzplatz until the cult was banned by the invading Christian According to tradition the site was guarded by Frankish soldiers in order to enforce the ban and they were chased off by Saxons dressed as Witch and riding on a broomstick. Another old Saxon cult site is found on the Brocken
Above the Hexentanzplatz are the remains of the Sachsenwall (“Saxon Dyke”), a wall of granite rocks and possibly part of a larger fortification, more than 1,500 years old
DBB, thank you. Do you have ties to UCB? I like it too. I frankly re-built it, after the one I bought 1997 in Berkeley was no longer presentable. I love that seal and having a reminder at my time at UC Berkeley in Summer 1997.
Suzanne, I will come back to you in a personal message later. I am glad you like watching this spontaneous Re-Live. It was a true spur of a moment, nothing planned. Yet given the spontaneous crowd assembling within a couple minutes I might do it more often when I am out on a trip. Maybe even prepare a little bit, so i am able to tell you a little bit about where I am. Today I simply needed to get out. Thank you for watching and answering.
