The Quiet Power of Joe and Kamala
A Tribute to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris from a German Perspective
8I can’t fit all your names here, my dearest, most compassionate American friends, but I see you.
I see a nation that has just watched a president who led with compassion, conviction, and a steady hand prepare to leave office. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have spent the past four years working tirelessly—not for power or recognition, but for people. For you. For the world.
From where I sit in Germany, I can feel the weight of this moment. Biden’s unwavering focus on democracy, diplomacy, and decency has not only shaped your nation but strengthened bonds across the globe. His actions—whether negotiating a fragile ceasefire, advocating for middle-class families, or standing up to unchecked power—remind us all of what steady leadership can achieve.
I know the uncertainty ahead feels overwhelming. The fear of division, disinformation, and eroded trust is real. I know you carry that deeply. So do I.
But if there’s one thing I know about you, it’s this: resilience is in your DNA. You’ve weathered storms before. Hold onto the progress made, the hope still burning, and the power of community that I see in you.
I’ll never forget watching the Berlin Wall fall and the impossible becoming possible. I’ve seen it again in your nation. I was in Key West when Barack Obama was elected against all odds. I’ve seen the extraordinary happen because of people like you.
So take this with you:
Yes, you can. You always have.
A Tribute to Joe and Kamala
In quiet steps,
they carried the weight of a nation,
their hands steady against the winds
of division and doubt.
Joe, with a voice like river stones,
smoothed by decades of current,
spoke of bridges,
not walls,
and dared to dream of a democracy
held together by care.
Kamala, a spark,
a flame,
a beacon rising where none had stood before,
walked paths forged by fire,
and stood, unshaken, in the storm.
Together, they planted seeds
in soil long cracked by greed,
tended the fragile roots of trust,
and called forth the bloom
of possibility.
It was not perfect—
no labor of love ever is—
but it was honest.
It was human.
And in their work,
a nation could see itself,
whole again,
if only for a moment.

Creating art, testing recipes, and sharing my reflections here is a labor of love, but it also comes with real costs. Since January 2024 I am on sick leave for mental health challenges. Monty and I make life workable with a disposable income of €350 / $380 a month.
Hi There! I am Monty, to my friends and Sir Montgomery in formal situations. Very glad to make your acquaintance. Will you become part of Jay’s and me pride? I’d really love that, then you can call me Monty.
I share more on my current situation here:
