Join me as I share transformative journaling prompts that inspire reflection and guide you towards a more mindful and intentional life.
This post was first published August 22nd, 2024
Welcome to my Substack space—a place where intentions, affirmations, and a bit of self-love come together. This is my first post, and I’m thrilled to begin this journey of sharing my personal reflections and growth with you. Each day, I set an intention and craft an affirmation that resonates with where I am on my path. These are not just words but practices that help me engage more deeply with life, embrace the present moment, and explore the art of surrender. I’ll also be sharing some love letters I write to myself, reminders of the compassion and kindness we all deserve to offer ourselves.
My Intention for today: Engage
Engage means to participate or become involved in something. In Buddhism, engagement refers to actively practicing the teachings and principles of the Buddha in daily life, rather than merely studying them intellectually.
Inspiration for nurturing engagement:
Set aside dedicated time each day for mindfulness practice or meditation
Volunteer for a cause you care about to engage with your community
Actively listen in conversations, giving your full attention to the speaker
Try new experiences that push you out of your comfort zone
Join a study group or sangha to engage more deeply with Buddhist teachings
Practice mindful eating, savoring each bite and engaging all your senses
Engage in regular self-reflection to deepen your understanding of yourself
Journaling Impuls
How can you more fully engage with the present moment in your daily life?
My Affirmation for today: I Am the Surrendering I Seek
I embody the surrendering I yearn for. With each breath, I release resistance and open myself to the flow of life. I recognize that true surrender is not passive resignation, but an active embrace of what is. By letting go of my need to control, I create space for new possibilities to emerge.
In this moment, I cultivate an inner environment of acceptance and trust. I understand that my wholeness is not measured by how tightly I hold onto things, but by how gracefully I allow them to pass through me. I am learning to speak the language of acceptance, embracing the quiet wisdom of letting go.
With gentle determination, I move towards a more fluid way of being, remaining supple and at ease with life's natural rhythms. I stand fully present in this realm, offering companionship to my everyday situations while staying loyal to the art of surrender.
I am the universe experiencing itself through my unique perspective, deeply appreciative of this chance to explore life through the practice of letting go. In recognizing my true nature as boundless awareness, I embrace the freedom that comes from surrendering to the ever-changing flow of existence.
The main key takeaway in this affirmation is:
Surrender is an active process of letting go, embracing the present moment, and allowing life to unfold naturally, which leads to greater freedom and new possibilities.
And to deepen the experience I personally use some systemic questions, which I also share with you.
Journaling Impuls
How does the idea of "active surrender" show up in different areas of your life, and where do you notice it's most challenging or most rewarding?
What patterns or habits have you noticed that either support or hinder your ability to "let go" in challenging situations?
Imagine fully embodying this state of surrender in your daily life six months from now. How might your relationships, work, or personal growth be different?
Thank you for joining me on this journey of self-discovery and intentional living. As I continue to share my intentions, affirmations, and love letters, I hope you’ll find inspiration to engage more fully with your own life. Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences—I’d love to hear from you. Until next time, may you move through your day with grace, and may you find the freedom that comes from embracing the flow of life.
Warmly,
Jay
