Embracing Stillness: The Art of Becoming Who You Truly Are
In a world filled with noise, we can choose stillness. Today, I intend to create moments of stillness within myself, allowing my mind to calm and my spirit to find peace, regardless of the surrounding

Hey there, dearest Lionies,
Imagine a moment where everything stands still—no rush, no chaos, just a quiet presence that envelops your being like a gentle mist. How often do we find ourselves truly embracing such stillness? In a world that seems to demand our constant attention and action, the idea of finding calm within ourselves can feel almost revolutionary. Today, my intention is to invite this quiet strength into my life, to create moments of stillness where my mind can rest and my spirit can find peace.
But what does it mean to cultivate stillness? To me, it's more than just seeking silence; it's about finding that tranquil space within where the noise of the external world fades into the background, and I can connect with the deepest parts of myself. This intention for stillness has become essential in my journey of healing and integrating the many fragmented pieces of my experience. Through these practices, I aim to transform trauma into a source of strength, understanding that stillness can be the fertile ground where my true self emerges and thrives.
And with this intention comes the affirmation: "I am the one I have come to be." It's a reminder that I am not a distant stranger to my own aspirations but rather the living embodiment of them, unfolding with every breath and every step I take towards my authentic self.
Today's Intention and Affirmation
"I intend to create moments of stillness within myself, allowing my mind to calm and my spirit to find peace, regardless of the surrounding circumstances."
Stillness refers to a state of calm, quiet, and tranquility where external distractions are minimized, and the mind finds peace within itself. In the context of personal growth and mindfulness, stillness is the ability to remain centered and unperturbed amidst the noise of everyday life. It is not the absence of movement or action but rather the presence of a quiet, clear, and focused mind that is attuned to the present moment.
In Buddhism, stillness is often associated with the concept of "Śamatha" (Pali: Samatha), which translates to "calm abiding." Śamatha is a form of meditation practice that aims to develop a calm, focused mind through concentration and mental tranquility. According to the scriptures, Śamatha serves as the foundation for insight (Vipassana) by cultivating an inner stillness that allows practitioners to observe their thoughts and emotions without attachment or judgment. It is described in various texts, including the Visuddhimagga (Path of Purification), where achieving stillness is considered essential to transcending the cycles of suffering (Samsara).
Systemic Question for Self-Reflection
What internal and external conditions do I need to create or let go of to cultivate a sense of stillness in my daily life?
Hint: Identify what disrupts or supports your calm, like certain habits, environments, or thoughts, and consider small changes to reduce noise and increase quiet moments. In moments of chaos or stress, how can I practice stillness to remain present and connected with my inner self?
Hint: Use simple centering techniques like focusing on your breath or naming and pausing to stay grounded and respond mindfully to stress triggers.
Affirmation: I Am the One I Have Come to Be
I am the one I have come to be. With each mindful breath, I nurture my inner world, allowing outdated beliefs to transform into nourishment for new growth. I recognize that I am not separate from my aspirations but the living manifestation of their potential.
In this present moment, I create a welcoming space for transformation. My wholeness is measured by how authentically I remain true to my intrinsic self, despite life's challenges.
I am learning to speak the language of my soul, embracing the quiet undercurrents of my being. By choosing a more authentic life, I honor the paths that lead to my truest self. I trust in growth's cyclical nature, allowing elements of my life to flourish, fade, and renew without resistance.
With unwavering dedication, I move towards the future I was meant for, remaining flexible and at ease with my natural flow. I stand fully present, offering companionship to my everyday experiences while staying loyal to my unique qualities.
I am the universe experiencing itself through my distinct perspective, deeply grateful for this opportunity to explore life through my perceptive body. In recognizing my true nature as boundless awareness, I embrace the freedom that comes from knowing I am interconnected with all that is and ever will be.
Key Takeaway
The affirmation "I Am the One I Have Come to Be" speaks to a profound acceptance of one's journey, recognizing that our true self is already present, unfolding, and becoming in alignment with our deeper aspirations. It suggests that growth is not about becoming something different, but rather about realizing and embodying who we already are in our essence.
The essence of this affirmation is: "I am both the path and the destination, embracing my journey with authenticity and self-compassion."
Systemic Questions
Reflective Question:
What beliefs or narratives about myself have I outgrown, and how can I gently release them to make space for new possibilities?
Hint: Consider moments where you felt a disconnect between your actions and your deeper self, and explore what no longer feels aligned.
Perspective Change Question:
If I view my life as a continuous unfolding of my true self, how does that shift my understanding of challenges I currently face?
Hint: Look at a recent challenge through the lens of growth—what is it revealing about the qualities you are developing or reclaiming?
Future-Oriented Question:
In what ways can I actively honor the paths that lead to my truest self in my daily life?
Hint: Identify small, meaningful actions or practices that align with your values and aspirations, and think about how to integrate them consistently.
A Shift in Perspective
This affirmation—"I Am the One I Have Come to Be"—reminds me that my journey is not about becoming something other than myself but about uncovering the truth of who I already am. It suggests that stillness is not a state of inaction or avoidance but a powerful practice of presence that allows for growth and transformation. In choosing stillness, I learn to let go of what no longer serves me and welcome what does, cultivating a more profound alignment with my true self.
By embracing this stillness, I start to see my life’s challenges not as obstacles but as pathways leading me back to my essence. It’s in the quiet moments that I begin to recognize that every experience, even the difficult ones, offers a chance to deepen my understanding and acceptance of who I am. This practice of stillness and acceptance can ripple outward, impacting not only my inner world but also how I engage with the world around me, bringing more compassion, authenticity, and presence into my daily life.
So, dear reader, what does stillness mean to you? How might you find those quiet spaces within yourself, even amidst the noise of life? Let’s explore this journey together.
With gratitude,
